SRUC Student Sessions March 2018

We were pleased to welcome a group of SRUC Golf Course Management scholars to our headquarters at Cupar, Fife.

The industry visit is an important part of their program as the Golf Management students must learn to make recommendations for fleet machinery purchasing to individual golf clubs.

Subjects covered include the advantages of leasing, purchasing and financial contracts as well as evaluating machinery efficiency and performance.

Sandy Armit, Managing Director, of John Deere Turf dealer Double A commented: “We are delighted to be involved in educating the greenkeepers of tomorrow”.John Deere currently supply the Elmwood Golf Course with a fleet of machinery, and the partnership along with industry visits also supports student awards of merit and assists with course resources.

Ian Butcher, Subject Tutor said: “Industry partnerships are key to bringing those preparing for management careers face to face with modern challenges and solutions. We hope the students can make the most of these visits and hit the ground running when they enter the workplace, having gained the confidence and experience required to move projects forward with fresh ideas“
